Chilies at the Tucson Botanical Gardens
Chilies at the Tucson Botanical Gardens

So neither Denise nor I made it out to the Food Allergy Bloggers’ conference (maybe next year?), but want to see what it’s like when you’re trying to feed a crowd of allergic people? Check out Adventures of an Allergic Foodie’s post on it. Looks worth checking out next year.

It’s also crock-pot time. This looks easy AND I have all the ingredients: black bean sweet potato stew.

Hipsters bring us easy cashew cheese. That looks easy enough to try, and again, I have all the ingredients.

Since I’m (Denise) still looking for things to do with extra red wine, this recipe for Blackberry-Red Wine Gelatin looks pretty awesome. Too bad I didn’t find this earlier in the year when blackberries were in season.

It’s that time of year where it’s now cool enough to do roasts in the oven.  This Cumin-Rubbed Cuban Porchetta looks mouthwatering.

I also found this article on allergy cross reactions.  Some of the environmental allergies I (Denise) always had as a kid might be the reason I now have food allergies, and may explain the range of foods that are an issue. I need to do more research on this, but it is intriguing.

Lastly, I think I need to make chili oil. Because seriously, why wouldn’t I? Especially since I now have boatloads of chilies.

Hope your weekend is worth the week.

    1. I keep meaning to try cashew cheese! It does look easy, so there’s no excuse for my laziness. (Well, I could use a better blender…okay, there’s always an excuse.)

          1. Yep, that’ll do it.

Unsolicited advice? Give up real cheese. Don’t find any substitutes for a few months. Right now, you’d compare, and the fake stuff will not come out on top. Let your tastebuds forget a bit. And if you can have all the other ingredients, Daiya is pretty good.
