I (Denise) am a cast iron enthusiast, but maybe I’ll try this trick to make my stainless steel skillets non-stick and see how it goes. It works for cast iron, right? Of course, I’ll use a safe oil for me.
In spice news, I want you all to know that I refrained from buying a 5 pound bag of dried chilies at the Super 88 Asian grocery in Allston, MA. I mean, it was hilariously huge, but I suppose even I’m not that crazy. (Since when? _mk) But if you need to use some chilies up, try this Sichuan Chile Oil recipe from Saveur. It’s on my list of things that must be made.
If you need to make a dish for Thanksgiving, this vegetable casserole sounds pretty great to me (and accommodates many food allergies/sensitivities).
And if you’re looking for a gift for the fermenters in your life (you do have fermenters in your life, don’t you? Isn’t every other person fermenting now?), these gorgeous crocks seem like a great gift. Think ahead, people.
Have a great weekend everyone!
