(This is what happens just “off stage” of many of my photo shoots. I don’t use this table for eating, but it has the best natural light near a flat surface in my house. It’s also near the bird-watching window. And Cassini is still a Very Curious Kitten. Who also likes people food.)
I (Mary Kate) am in Denver at the moment. I was very happy to find 5280 Burger Bar right near my hotel, and they have a gluten-safe fryer. Meaning french fries. VERY lovely. They had good ratings/reviews at Find Me Gluten Free, and my waitress knew right off that while the gluten-free flatbread was well-reviewed, it also contained dairy. I’m good with bunless burgers, particularly in the presence of fries, and their pico de gallo topping was excellent. Consider this my mini review, and consider checking this place out if you’re in downtown Denver. (Also, I posted a photo of my food to our FB page last night)
Damnit, people. First, we couldn’t trust our olive oil, and now we can’t trust our oats? Seriously? I live on instant oatmeal while traveling, and this really bums me out. Here’s a list of companies that follow what seems like a reasonable safety protocol. I will say that I have not gotten sick from oatmeal before, but when I’m on the road, I would rather be as safe as possible.
For those of you who are limited in your available sweeteners, and who use cane sugar (i.e. me, Denise) watch out for a sugar shortage next year.
Still working on coming up with a pasta recipe and still need to challenge rice, so this recipe looks good in the meantime: Butternut Squash Pasta with Bacon & Broccoli Rabe. I just need to make more safe bacon.
Have a great weekend everyone!
