Hey, y’all, it’s summer! Well, officially, it’s tomorrow. It’s felt like summer here all week, both in good (sunny, breezy, warm) and bad (hot, hot, hot) ways.

Want to grow stuff, but no room for a garden? Or are you really good at killing stuff? Or do you have an evil cat who eats anything you grow? Maybe sprouting is more your jam. You can sprout almost anything.

If it’s summer where you are, or you’re just like me (Mary Kate) and don’t have air conditioning in the kitchen, maybe you need some more smoothie ideas. I like a formula for smoothies, and this one is pretty malleable. I’m going to try this in the morning, as I have an hour drive and a two-hour meeting to get through between breakfast and lunch.

I’m (Denise) not sure why I didn’t think of this before. I know a lot of people that put pumpkin or black beans in brownies, but not sweet potato? I’d still have to sub out several ingredients, but it’d be worth a shot because I bet sweet potato would leave less of a weird aftertaste than some other brownie ingredients.  Check out Gluten-Free Sweet Potato Macadamia Brownies.

Also, I don’t have Mary Kate’s issue with soy, and a friend of ours, Mary of the kale whispering fame, gave me about 10 pounds of soybean flour. I’m starting to poke around to figure out what to do with it, but I’m thinking maybe I could use it in this recipe instead of the garbanzo bean flour – Herbed Chickpea Oven Fries with Avocado Garlic Aioli. The dipping sauce sounds fabulous. Also, I need ideas on how to use 10 pounds of soybean flour. If you’ve got ideas, comment please!

    1. Ten pounds of soy flour? Whoah! I’d be curious to know if you can use it in the Herbed Chickpea [soy?] Fries–I imagine it would work, but I’m wondering whether they’d taste very good. I bet you could do a version of socca with soy flour that would work, too. Thanks so much for the mention! 🙂
