What’s up Friday people?

I love my Foreman grill for how quick it is — I’m a VERY late convert, but having dinner done in about 10 minutes can be important.  I use this grilling chart regularly.

Ever spend what feels like forever looking for a weird ingredient only to find it and then forget what you wanted it for?  Pomegranate molasses was one of those for me.  I finally found it when I was at a food market while traveling for a conference, trucked it home on the plane and then couldn’t find the recipe I needed.  Here, learn about pomegranate molasses. Pomegranates?  Yeah, I’m sensing a theme coming on — they are in season now, and festive to boot.  It has been posited that the fruit depicted in the Garden of Eden, biblically, was a pomegranate, not an apple.  Tasty fruit of the Tree of Knowledge… How to seed a pomegranate:

Pomegranates are a traditional new year food in Iran (and I believe they may play a role in Rosh Hashanah, Jewish New Year, but don’t quote me on that).  Maybe consider some hearty fesenjan, an Iranian chicken stew that features pomegranate molasses and walnuts.  Obviously not nut free.

I’m not sure I’ve ever been a nog person, but I admit I tried most of the flavored soy milks when I quit dairy.  I’m thinking a little nog wouldn’t be a bad idea this year, and Fat-Free Vegan’s got two options for trying.

Looking for ways to waste less and make tastier vegetable stock?  Check out this broth “recipe” at Plant-based, Slow-motion miracle.

Here’s an interesting article about a vaccine company making a deal with a pharmaceutical company to develop immunotherapies for food allergy treatment. Here’s wishing and hoping someday they find something that works.

With all the holiday baking that’s going on or about to commence, here’s some information about the contents of vanilla extracts for people with nut allergies from The Nut-Free Mom. Honestly, this was a blind spot for me.  It never even occurred to me to think about it until I saw this post.

And speaking of holiday baking, these look good and fast if you need a quick baked item in between everything else that has to get done – Vegan Mint Chocolate Rice Crispy Squares.

And since some of us will be imbibing wine and beer as part of our holiday festivities, Living Without had an interesting article on the Hidden Additives and Allergens in Beer and Wine. Not that I needed another thing to worry about.
